How to Unblock Wowhead in 2026
If you're in Turkey, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Serbia, Thailand, or China, you've seen the message: Wowhead is not available in your region. Since March 2022, ZAM Network has blocked all seven countries from accessing wowhead.com. No timeline for reversal. No official workaround.
This guide covers three ways to get Wowhead working again, from the fastest option to the most complete.
Option 1: Use the WowHead.click Web Proxy
The fastest way. No installation required. Works in any browser.
How it works
Go to wowhead.click and paste any Wowhead URL into the input box. Or take any Wowhead link and replace wowhead.com with wowhead.click in the address bar.
Your request routes through a server in a region where Wowhead is accessible. The page loads in your browser with full functionality: database entries, guides, comments, talent calculators, search.
The web proxy does not store, cache, or modify Wowhead's content. Ads and cookie consent banners are preserved as-is. It works like a VPN but only for Wowhead traffic.
Limitations: login and account features may not work reliably through the proxy, since cookies pass through an intermediary server. For anonymous browsing and research, it works perfectly.
Option 2: Install the WowHead.click Browser Extension
The most complete solution. Once installed, everything just works.
What it does
The extension intercepts requests to wowhead.com and routes them through WowHead.click's servers. Every Wowhead link you click opens normally. Wowhead's tooltip script loads on every WoW community site. Logins and account features work because your browser communicates directly with Wowhead (routed through our server).
The extension only activates on wowhead.com and Wowhead CDN domains. It does not touch any other site or browsing data.
The extension is currently in development. Chrome will be supported first, with Firefox following. Check back at wowhead.click for updates.
Option 3: Use a VPN
Any VPN that lets you connect to a server in the US or Europe will unblock Wowhead. This works but has trade-offs.
| WowHead.click | VPN | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | $5-15/month |
| Setup | None (proxy) or one extension install | App install + account creation |
| Traffic affected | Wowhead only | All your internet traffic |
| Tooltips on other sites | Yes (with extension) | Yes |
| Speed impact | Minimal (single site) | Varies (all traffic routed) |
| Wowhead login | Yes (with extension) | Yes |
If Wowhead is the only site you need unblocked, a full VPN is overkill. If you already have a VPN for other reasons, it will work fine for Wowhead too.
Why Is Wowhead Blocked?
In March 2022, ZAM Network (Wowhead's parent company, owned by Fanbyte) blocked access from Turkey, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Serbia, and China. Their stated reason: legal compliance costs for these regions exceeded the revenue they generated. The block is a business decision, not related to government sanctions or political actions.
Four years later, the block is still in place with no indication it will be reversed. For the full breakdown, see our Wowhead Blocked Countries: Full List and Why guide.
The Tooltip Problem
Wowhead being blocked doesn't just affect wowhead.com. Almost every WoW community site loads a tooltip script from Wowhead's servers to display item stats, spell info, and quest details when you hover over or click a link. When Wowhead is blocked in your country, that script fails to load. Every tooltip on Icy Veins, Method.gg, WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, Archon.gg, WoWProgress, and dozens of other sites goes blank.
The WowHead.click browser extension fixes this. It intercepts the tooltip script requests and routes them through our servers, so tooltips work again on every WoW site. For more details, see Fix Wowhead Tooltips on Icy Veins, Method, and WarcraftLogs.
